How to promote your topos and grow your audience

A published Verified Topo immediately reaches hundreds of thousands of climbers on 27 Crags β but authors who actively promote their topos see significantly more users. Here's how to make the most of it.
1. Make the best topo in the area β and keep it updated
Climbers always gravitate towards the most complete, up-to-date topo. A high-quality topo spreads by word of mouth on its own β people love sharing great finds with their climbing friends.
2. Cover the whole area
The most complete area topo is the most popular one. Include the less-visited spots too β locals appreciate knowing about everything, and they'll pass that knowledge on. Covering more spots also helps spread climbers out during busy periods.
You don't have to do it alone β collaborate with local climbers. More content benefits everyone.
3. Remember: more topos means more users for everyone
Topos don't compete with each other β they complement each other, just like physical guidebooks. The more areas covered on 27 Crags, the more valuable the app becomes for every climber β and the more income for all authors. If you know climbers who might want to make topos, tell them about 27 Crags!
4. Share your referral link
Give new users a 1-month free Premium trial with your personal referral link. Trial users count towards your downloads just like paying subscribers.Β
5. Promote on social media
Use #27crags and tag @27crags on Facebook or @27crags.app on Instagram when you share your topos β we'll reshare newly published topos and updates to our audience. Climbing communities and local groups are also great places to spread the word.
6. Add great climbing photos
Inspiring photos make your topo more attractive and show up in the photo feed on the website and app. They also give us content to use when promoting your topo on our channels β great photos make promotion much easier.
Ask climbing friends for shots if you don't have your own β just make sure they're happy for their photos to be used on 27 Crags. You also have a chance of being featured as our Pic of the Week on the 27 Crags homepage!
7. Let us know about local news
We love sharing updates from the community. Get in touch if you have:
New routes added to an area
Recently rebolted routes
A notable hard ascent
A crag or spot that's in season
